Elder Tyler Fullmer – Clearer

Hello,

Well once again it’s been another week and the mission is almost out
of money. It’s getting pretty hard here. we’ve had to tell everyone
that all reimbursements are stopping until the next month. Can you
believe this next week will be the nine month mark. I hardly feel like
I’m getting anything done and i really hope the second half is not
faster than the second. This mission is flying by and that’s good and
bad. I’m not sure I’m so happy about how fast its going but Im glad that
Christmas is coming soon. It’s going to be hard to find a time to get
all of us in that day. There will be 3 Brasilians and I think 3
Americans here all using Skype. So who knows I know some of them will
be slow I just know it. Oh well just can’t wait to see you guys as
well.

Anyways how’s work and school? Schools probably not going to get out for
Connor until the 24th. This week has been kind of a lame one. Not too
many lessons. We had some trouble with that I think every day we had
one fall through. So this Tuesday we are going to have a district
secret Santa. I think its going to be good but we can only stay for
the first half of the day. when lunch comes we have to be going back
to work at lunch. I’ts going to be a fun day.

I’ve started rereading the Liahonas of the conference talks in Portuguese
and I must say I’m loving it. I’m started to find things I never noticed.
Things that didn’t really have any meaning in English have become more
clear to me. When I’m reading I can now get almost all of it in
Portuguese. Both the bible and the Book of Mormon. I really feel for
Austin, i can imagine how hard the Bible must be in German. Normally
the church uses easier language in the Book of Mormon than the Bible
does. It’s really nice because some people begin the hold on to the
Book of Mormon because it is easier for them to read. I must admit
It’s nice to know that i can read and understand what i read. It’s hard
when your investigator reads you a scripture from the Bible telling you
its why they won’t join the church and you don’t even know what it
says. If you guys haven’t read the Book of Mormon edition of the
Liahona you should because it is great. We use the time lines to
teach.

I love you guys. I’m looking forward to seeing you guys on Christmas. I
miss you guys but I know that I am supposed to be here. I’m am glad
that I got to working the office even though I didn’t think I’d be here.
I have learned quite a bit been here that i will never forget. I know
the Lord has his purposes even if we can’t see them at the time. oh and
by the way Brynn I got your yellow puffy pack. Thank you all the
things in there made my day. Love you guys.

Abração,

Elder Fullmer

Elder Tyler Fullmer – The Book of Mormon challenge

Hey guys I’ll try to get to all of your guys questions and i think I’ll
be able to do it. I don’t have too much to talk about. We’ve had a crazy
week this week. With the mail strike done letters have started coming
again normally which has made the missionaries very happy here. I got a
lot from mom and yes Brynn I got yours too and also, surprisingly, I
got one from the Sayers. It was a puffy yellow envelope with socks and
sour patch kids. Needless to say it made me really happy. I sent them
a letter in return but could you thank them as well. I don’t know if I
already told you guys that but it was really nice of them. Thank you
for the letters guys it makes me feel a lot better when I get them. I
was pretty down with the whole ton of work that we have here some
days. I spent most of the time fighting with the people that we rent
from not having updated bank accounts or not sending me the payments.

Oh and by the way i just got grandpa’s tie and wore it but forgot to
take a picture for you guys. I really did love it even though I cried.
Just a little bit. It made me way happy just to have a bit of him with
me. I never told you but it made me kind of angry when I wasn’t able
to be there and I was angry that I was the only one who couldn’t be
there but I’ve come to be very glad. Because I would have been one of
the people completely bawling in the back. I don’t know if I told you
this story already but I was watching a movie in our English class
called Charlie and in the end I got thinking about grandpa and then
started to break down, then everyone started to stare so I booked it
out of the room. Really embarrassing but what can you do, right?

Thank you for sending pictures Jana. And the snake is in my room
again? You moved things around? It’s only been 71/2 months…..holy
crap 7 1/2 months I’ve been gone so long. Well at least my family is
still writing me. Thank you for all your prayers we need them here it’s
getting hard to find people to teach and president is getting more and
more pushy which is what he’s got to do but my work load here has
gotten so big. I broke down last week. I now know why the Lord has got
me here but I must say I’m not liking it so much but it needs to
happen. The Lord is helping me get over my terrible habit of
procrastinating. I’m not necessarily procrastinating but I could be
working harder some days and last week I got caught in a hole but I’m
slowly getting better, talked to president and we had a good talk as
well.

I love to scriptures I want you to know that my personal testimony of
the scriptures has been growing inside of me. Remember the part in
“The Otherside of Heaven” he sits on the beach and just reads the
“Bible”, which was really the book of Mormon but oh well, after he’s done
he can speak (Tongan) not perfect but he was given help with the language. Well
I’ve been taking on the challenge of reading the Book of Mormon all
the way through because prophets have always said that if we read the
Book of Mormon in another language we will be given more help with
that language. Well…..I’ve completely felt that help in my last few
weeks, I just got out of the Isaiah part of second Nephi and I’m
starting on Jacob an I feel more confident when i speak and people
have commented on how my language has improved so much and i can only
say that the lord has been there for me in this time.

Eu sempre tenho uma oração para vocês em minha coração. Eu te-amo
muito, muito mesmo. Eu sou muio grato para minha familia e todo vocês
fazem para mim. Eu sempre sei qué deus podia me-ajuda mas como todos
pessoas as veses eu estava um pouco durro e queria fazer todo sozinho
mas isso mudou um pouco. Brigado para todo. Eu sei thomas s monson é
nosso profeta e ele fala cara cara com deus. todo ele disse e vai
dizer é escritura.

Attensiousomente,
E. Fullmer

Elder Tyler Fullmer and The heart of Sao Paulo

Me and my comp placed 3 Books of Mormon last Friday. That was the greatest experience of all time. I understood the people and they knew what I was saying, wooohooo. They didn’t get what he was saying, but they always looked to me to talk, and the last one I placed by myself. It feels really great. Next time we go out to the “heart” of Sao Paulo, if you can call it that, but that’s what we do.

I got your letters from the 6th and the 11th so it takes awhile. My mailbox is 21 but your letters have been getting to me and by the way I showed part of one of your letters to the sisters of my district and they wanted me to tell you they thought it was great. I really do enjoy hearing about what’s going on at home.

Oh my comps name is Elder Larson and he’s from Washington. We still can´t upload pictures and that sucks. On the other hand however we can’t take our cameras outside of the CTM, so not too many picture taking opportunities here, but it is so amazing to get out of the CTM every Wednesday.

I have a question for dad, are we related to the Benjamin F Johnson in our heritage?  Also who has got visas…anyone from d-town?

I also thanked the Mission pres for the email and told him that you loved it.

Well I got a little dehydrated Saturday and so I got sick, but I’ve been watching the water level’s better, so that’s gotten good. Me and my comp were both sick over the weekend.

So the Sao Paulo temple is way cool and very beautiful. The Second best of course, but it is up there. Well that’s about it for this week.

I love you guys, bye.

Elder Tyler Fullmer – Two is nice, three is great

So it’s been going really well. We just got back from the temple and we did initiatory and that was really cool. I’m glad we went and did it. It was neat because I didn’t remember what is said at all. Plus we always eat there in the morning so today has been a really good day today. I’m in a trio now.  The third elders name is Elder Malloy. He’s pretty cool and seems to know a lot.

Well my funny story is that we were having companion time and one of my companions started telling me that he had been praying to love me, but had not been able to and the reason was because I am not humble and have no humility. So needless to say when he started Elder Malloy looked really scared like I was going to blow up and take out our other comp, but I’m proud to say that I just sat there took it and now have something to reflect on. Now we’ll see if I can change his opinion, not that he doesn’t think I’m a cool guy and am a good comp but I guess I’m not spiritually humble….I guess.

Well thank you so much for all the packages and letters. I get a letter almost every day. Which is really nice and I love hearing everything that is going on.

My lessons are going great and our teaching is getting better and better. We went to something called the TE, pretty much just a place to get tutored, on how we could be more unified teachers and I must say it really helped. Our district has been reduced from 13 to 6,  3 guys and 3 girls, and it seems so small and empty.

So most of our classes are going mutio bem. O evagelho de jesus cristo é verdage. O livro de mormon cetém o pletituge é verdage. Eu sei que jesus cristo é o filho de deus e ele expiacão por meu pecoas(that worked in my head and who knows if I spelled it right).

The firesides here are pretty awesome. We haven’t heard from one of the twelve yet, but all of the speakers have been great. I sang in the choir and am now rocking the part, too bad I can’t send pics through the email.   I have my first haircut today so ill have to let you know how that goes so you can let Leisa know.

I miss you guys.

Pai,  I met a Thai speaker the other day and he was impressed when I said hello to him so your mini lessons came in handy.  I hope your hand is better. I’m praying for you guys and I’ll try and get a letter out today.

From,

Elder Fullmer

Ty’s email – 3/19/11

Bom Dia Familia,

OK so first I only have 30 min so if its short I’m sorry.

My address is
Elder Tyler Ross Fullmer
MTC mailbox #97
bra-flo 0516
2005 n. 900. E
Provo, Utah 84604-1793
so you can mail me at that address.

Ok for the real stuff…its going really well here I love it. My teachers are great and we are already praying and baring our testimony, with some notes, In Portuguese. I really can’t believe I’m here and everyone in my district is great, plus half of them are like copies of people i know from home.

You have got to tell Scotty that I met his double, he’s not my comp though and sadly I’m not district leader but I am the senor comp, for the next 2 weeks and then we switch. My comps name is Elder Zachary Torres from grants pass, most of the elders and sisters are either from Oregon or Washington. Anyways he’s pretty cool, gets kind of obnoxious sometimes but other than that we’ve helped each other out quite a bit.

There’s 13 of us, 8 guys and 5 girls. The four of us in my room are all going to Florianopolis the rest are mostly going to Sao Paulo somewhere. One of the Elders just got his visa and he leaves in a few days. Life is pretty crazy busy lunch and dinners are amazing breaks in the schedule. We get put in the same room for hours on end which would seem good for memorization but it’s really not, I go kinda crazy in that room sometimes.

I’m doing laundry right now so we’ll see how well me and my comp did on our first time. Its way odd walking around and seeing everyone in suits and dresses…..and of course those nice name tags.

This sounds way cliché but the sprit is way strong here I can’t even believe it. It’s nice being with people that have your same goal and mind but are still so different that you can still learn a lot from everyone. The girls in our district are kind of showing us up on that language side of things and that might be because half of them are majoring in Spanish, but like I said we are all moving along well.

I miss you guys, that’s funny that Connor has already took over my computer. I can’t wait till I’m able to get out into the field and go to work. SO GET ME THE YELLOW YELLOW FEVER CARD. Just go to DFM and ask for one because I didn’t get one. Well it’s about time to go. My P-days are mostly going to be on Fridays so that’s when you guys should be getting the emails. I’m going to try and write a letter as well. Oh and sorry i wasn’t able to send any pictures we haven’t had time as I said its crazy busy but I will be send them soon.

I love you all and can’t wait to hear from you soon. Get my address to Scotty or anyone else who wants it. Well time to get back to the work.

Love you,

Elder Tyler Fullmer
